The Projects
The Edmonton Cultural Capital Program contains five cornerstone
projects built around the theme of creating new connections and possibilities
in all aspects of arts and culture. In addition, an equally important
project will be to create a Cultural Inventory. This will be undertaken
in partnership with the Heritage Community Foundation based in Edmonton.

The Edmonton Cultural Capital Program contains five cornerstone projects built around the theme of creating new connections and possibilities in all aspects of arts and culture. Edmonton Poetry Festival
Connections occur through people engaging
with poems and the images they evoke, through the shared experience of
hearing poetry performed, and through the process of creating and refining
work. Activities will be under the direction of Edmonton’s first
Poet Laureate, Alice Major.

Marketing and Awareness
In addition to these projects a unique Marketing and Awareness campaign will highlight the wealth of talent and culture that makes Edmonton worthy of the title Cultural Capital of Canada.
The marketing and awareness campaign seeks to:
Highlight and profile the entire arts and cultural community
Increase awareness among Edmontonians of the wealth of talent and scope of cultural activities in the city
Increase the engagement of Edmontonians with all aspects of our arts and cultural community beyond this Cultural Capital Year
Increase awareness of Edmonton’s cultural community both nationally and internationally.
